Did you know that 34 of the 50 states in the US have a death penalty? In the US, 34 states that have death penatly and 14 that don't have death penalty. Illinois has had a moratorium since 2000, and New Jersey doesn't have anything. My opinon on all of this is half and half I don't think that you should have death penatlies unless it is really bad. But if its not really bad then just put them into jail for life instead of spending a lot of mone. There are two main executions, they are lethal injection and the other one is the electric chair. But the most common one out of the two is the lethal injection. Another fact about death penalty is that there are two different point of views. Some of the arguments that they have had were about, racism, murder, torture, rape, innocence, cost, and violation of the 8th amendment. Reasons that people are for death penalty is that death penatly can help prevent future crime, and people think that it will minimize the crimes in the U.S. Some reasons that people are against death penalties is because there is always a small chance of a innocent person getting killed, and it violates the the 8th amendment that states "there should be no unusual or cruel punishments" and lethal injection and electric chair are cruel and unusual punishments. http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/home http://deathpenalty.procon.org/view.resource.php?resourceID=002000 http://www.stateline.org/live/ViewPage.action?siteNodeId=136&languageId=1&contentId=25995
